The girls soccer team will honor their 3 seniors from the Class of 2021 tonight vs. Canton South. The recognition ceremony will take place around 5:40 pm. Congratulations to Emma Gaugler, Morgan Ross, and Alexxis Wearstler!
Emma has played soccer for 14 years and all 4 years of high school and is also on the Senior Video staff. Her favorite memory from soccer was from junior year when she scored her first header off a corner kick. Emma offers the following advice for underclassmen: “always play your best every game and leave it on the field, always enjoy the moments you have with your team, and I know the monster lap isn’t that fun, but I promise it helps!” After graduation, Emma plans on going to Kent State University to pursue a career in neonatal nursing. She would like to give a shout out to Alexxis and Morgan. I’m so grateful I got to grow up playing soccer with you two and a shout out to Coach Mallory for always making me push myself to be a better person and a better player on the field. She also wants to thank the team for giving her one of the best soccer seasons she’s ever had. Emma Gaugler.
Morgan has played soccer for 15 years and all 4 years of high school and is in the marching band, a kicker on the football team, and on the track team. Her favorite memory from soccer was when her cleat split in half during a game our freshman year and Emma helped me tape it back together. And also screaming her head off at the car wash every year on that little platform by Acme. Morgan offers the following advice for underclassmen: “Don’t be afraid to try something new.” After graduation, Morgan plans on attending college but is undecided on where. She would like to give a shout out to the local girls of Acme, her monster lap buddy Sabrina, the band for coming to our game, Coach Farrance, and her parents for putting up with her and the activities she does.
Alexxis has played soccer for 13 years and all 4 years of high school and also is a kicker on the football team. Her favorite memory from soccer was when she was trying to pump up the team after a tough but hard fought loss and completely screwed up the pep talk and instead it turned into everyone laughing at how bad she failed. So for the girls, “we ended the first half with a score of 4-0 and then the second half 4-0!” Alexxis offers the following advice for underclassmen: “Cherish every moment and try for your hardest on the field. You don’t know if it will be your last whether it’s because of injury or a pandemic that shows up out of nowhere.” After graduation, Alexxis plans to go to college but is undecided on where. She hopes to become either a surgical nurse or an elementary school teacher. She would like to give a shout out to all the girls on the team that have listened to all her random rants or dealt with her laughing out of nowhere. Also, a big shout out to her fellow seniors Morgan and Emma, who have helped push me to become the player I am today, from GAASA all the way up to now. I love and appreciate each and every one of you more than you will know.
