The boys and girls track teams performed well at the PTC Prelims last night at Crestwood. Five final events were also contested.
On the boys side, junior Jimmie Painter finished as PTC champion in the boys long jump and set a new school record with a leap of 22 ft 0.5 in. Senior Austin Hinzman finished as runner up in the long jump with a leap of 21 ft 8.5 in. The 4×8 relay of sophomore Dennis Charnes, senior Nolland Almestica, sophomore Cam Ray, and sophomore Drew Dimeff placed 4th.
On the girls side, seniors Jasmine Yates and Savannah McGraw placed 6th and 7th in the discus, respectively. Freshman McKayla Sullivan tied for 7th in the high jump. The 4×8 relay of junior Emylie Candelaria, freshman Hannah Ragland, junior Sandra Northup, and sophomore Amber Hankins placed 6th.
Qualifying on to finals on the boys side were junior Damian Jackson in the 110 hurdles, junior Calvin Dudley in the 110 hurdles, Hinzman in the 100, junior Justin Christian in the 400 and 200, junior Malik Shaver in the 300 hurdles, and junior Derrick Brown in the 200.
Qualifying on to finals on the girls side were senior Gracie Collins in the 100 and 300 hurdles, junior Paula Stevens in the 100 and 300 hurdles, junior Libby Vanderark in the 400 and 200, and freshman Carly Wightman in the 400.
Finals will be contested on Friday night at Crestwood.
