The boys and girls track teams both finished as team champions at the Toby Grim Relays at Dalton last night, each scoring 104 points en route to the team titles. The teams also took home the combined team championship.
Winning events on the boys side were the long jump relay of junior Jimmie Painter, senior Austin Hinzman, and junior Carson Karakis, the shuttle hurdle relay of juniors Malik Shaver, Calvin Dudley, Marcus Sims, and Damian Jackson, the 4×100 relay of senior Zach Rankin, junior Derrick Brown, Dudley, and Hinzman, the 300 medley hurdle relay of sophomore Dennis Charnes, Painter, junior Ravel Ray, and Shaver, the 4×400 relay of Ray, junior Justin Christian, Charnes, and Shaver, and the weight relay of freshman Cole Moyers, junior Ryan Mollohan, sophomore Kyler Barnett, and junior Lucas Baker. The shuttle hurdle relay team set a new meet record in that event.
Winning events on the girls side were the shot put relay of seniors Jasmine Yates, Savannah McGraw, and Brooke Sells, the discus relay of seniors Alyssa Chuluda, Yates, and McGraw, the shuttle hurdle relay of senior Gracie Collins and juniors Libby Vanderark, Paula Stevens, and Ashley Martinez, the 4×100 relay of junior Rachael Fogg, Collins, sophomore Morgan Ross, and Martinez, the 4×200 relay of Ross, Collins, freshman Carly Wightman, and Vanderark, the 300 medley hurdle relay of Collins, Paula Stevens, Vanderark, and Martinez, the sprint medley relay of Fogg, junior Halie Stevens, Martinez, and Wightman, and the weight relay of Chuluda, McGraw, Sells, and Yates.
A special congratulations to Yates as she set a new school record in the shot put with a toss of 33 ft 3 in.
The teams are back in action on Wednesday and Friday at the PTC Invitational.
