Boys Varsity Track, Girls Varsity Track · Track Teams Perform Well At PTC Prelims


The boys and girls track teams performed well last night at the PTC prelims at Crestwood.

On the girls side, junior Gracie Collins qualified to finals in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, sophomore Halie Stevens qualified to finals in the 100, and sophomore Libby Vanderark qualified to finals in the 200.

On the boys side, sophomore Justin Christian qualified to finals in the 200 and 400, sophomore Derrick Brown qualified to finals in the 100 and 200, senior Nate Skaggs qualified to finals in the 400, sophomore Damian Jackson qualified to finals in the 110 hurdles, and sophomore Malik Shaver qualified to finals in the 300 hurdles.

There were also some field event finals and the 4×8 final contested yesterday. Freshman Morgan Ross finished as PTC runner up in the girls high jump, junior Austin Hinzman finished as PTC runner up in the boys long jump, and sophomore Jimmie Painter finished in 5th place in the boys long jump. The girls 4×8 team of senior Belle Virag, freshman Amber Hankins, sophomore Alysha James, and sophomore Roxie Slota finished in 6th place and the boys 4×8 team of senior Ray Hilbert, Skaggs, junior Nolland Almestica, and freshman Dennis Charnes finished in 3rd place.

The PTC finals will be held tomorrow at Crestwood at 3:30 pm.
