Multiple Teams · Volleyball Program Sweeps Springfield on Dig Pink Night


The 7th grade, 8th grade, JV, and varsity volleyball teams all defeated Springfield last night on Dig Pink night.

The varsity won 25-11, 25-9, 25-13. Junior Ashley Mirka had 14 kills and 5 blocks, sophomore Leah Ungashick had 20 assists, freshman Miya Gotto had 6 digs, and senior Anna Kimevski had 22 service points. They are now 16-4 overall and 11-2 in the PTC. They play at Rittman tomorrow.

The JV team won 25-22, 25-20. They are 15-5 overall.

The 7th and 8th grade girls both came home with a win against Springfield yesterday. It was an exciting evening as the girls wore pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The 7th grade continued their winning ways with a 25-10 and a 25-5 victory. Lexi Dimeff led all servers with 7 service points. Emma Gotto added 6 points and Maria Church and Maddie Belknap both added 4 points. Grace Hall led the team in digs and Brooke Mirka and Ronnie Meinen led the team in kills. The 7th grade ends the week with a 15-0 record!

The 8th grade started slow and had to push for a 3 game match. The Spartans came out with some strong servers and beat the Comets with a 19-25 score. Our Comets rallied in game two for a 25-18 win. In the deciding game, the Lady Comets pulled ahead and won easily 25-13. Bella Baird was a consistent force for the Comets with 15 service points.  Natasa Jovic added 9 points and Faith Hinzman had 4 points. Leading in digs were Hailey Conley, Destiny Burkhamer and Sierra Kuhn. Natasa Jovic led in kills and Hannah Ragland led in blocks. BreAnna Osborne directed the team and led in assists. The 8th grade improves to 7-8 on the season.

The team will finish their regular season next week taking on Springfield at home on Monday and then traveling on Wednesday to Cloverleaf.
