Boys Varsity Track, Girls Varsity Track · Burkhart and Martinez Lead the Comets on First Day of Track Districts


Senior Dusty Burkhart finished 2nd in the long jump last night, earning him a spot in the Regional meet next week. He also qualified on to finals on Saturday in the 100 meter dash and 4×1. Other qualifiers on to Saturday’s finals include junior Treon Sibley in the 100, 200, and 4×1, junior Nate Skaggs in the 800, senior Brad Holmgren in the 1600, freshman Damian Jackson in the 110 hurdles, senior Tyler Porter in the 4×1, freshman Jordan Akins in the 4×1, and freshman Derrick Brown in the 200.

On the girls side freshman Ashley Martinez qualified on to Saturday’s finals in the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, and 4×1. Other qualifier’s on to finals include senior Connie Agner in the 400 and 200, freshman Libby Vanderark in the 200, sophomore Gracie Collins in the 100 hurdles, junior Belle Virag in the 800, freshman Halie Stevens in the 4×1, senior Taylor Shaffer in the 4×1, and freshman Rachel Fogg in the 4×1.

In order to move on to Regionals, athletes must finish in the Top 4 in their event on Saturday.
