Multiple Teams · Comets Have Success During Busy Sports Weekend

With numerous teams in action, it was a very busy weekend for Coventry Athletics.

The bowling teams had both the league championships and sectional championships this weekend. The boys finished 2nd in the PTC tournament and 3rd at the sectional tournament while the girls finished 5th in the PTC tournament and 1st at the sectional tournament. Both teams advanced to the district championships on Saturday, 2/25.

The competition cheerleading team competed at the All-Star Championships in Canton on Sunday and won best choreography and 1st place in the varsity division.

The boys and girls middle school basketball teams competed in the opening round of the PTC tournament and 3 of the 4 teams advanced to the semifinals. The #4 seed 8th grade girls defeated Streetsboro 42-32 and will play #1 seed Norton on Tuesday at 5:45 pm at Woodridge High School. The #2 seed 7th grade boys defeated Field 49-15 and will play #3 seed Norton on Tuesday at 4:00 pm at Coventry Middle School. The #7 seed 8th grade boys defeated Streetsboro 41-39 and will play #3 seed Woodridge on Tuesday at 5:15 at Coventry High School.

The middle school wrestlers competed at the PTC Championships at Garfield on Saturday. Placing for the Comets were Colby Simon, who finished as PTC champion, Kyler Barnett, who finished as PTC runner up, Erik Coy, who finished in 3rd place, and Damien Lewis and Kody Arnst, who both finished in 5th place.
