The boys basketball team fought hard but could not overcome a dismal 1st half as they lost to Streetsboro last night 68-62. The Comets shot just 16% in the first half (5-30) and were down 27-14 at the break. Utilizing some tenacious full court pressure, Coventry fought back, tying the game at 60 with 1:22 left in the 4th quarter. Under some clutch shooting from Streetsboro’s Cory Gillings, the Rockets pulled away down the stretch.
Leading the way for the Comets was sophomore Jarmond Hogg with 20 points and 10 rebounds and senior Dusty Burkhart with 19 points and 4 steals. Junior Sam Vanadia added 14 rebounds for the Comets.
The boys are now 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the PTC. They travel to Rootstown over winter break and then host Woodridge in a pivotal league match up on January 3rd.
