Yesterday the Comets took on the Norton Panthers at home in the Coventry Middle School gym. The 7th grade team came out on fire with BreAnna Osborne serving up several aces and 10 straight service points. The Comets battled in game one and held a 20-14 lead near the end of the game. However, the Panthers would not give up. After getting a side out, they rallied for 10 straight points to take game one 25-20. In game two, the Comets continued to fight, but unfortunately came up short losing 20-25. The 7th grade team was led in service points by BreAnna Osborne who finished with 12 points and Alexandra Mears who added 5 points. The team is 6-4 overall.
The second match-up featured two very talented eighth grade teams. The Comets came out strong in game one with Miya Gotto serving up 10 strong service points in a row to give the team a comfortable 11-1 lead. The team played hard and kept their lead finishing game one with a 25-13 win over the Panthers. In game two, the Norton Panthers would not stop fighting. Game two was a battle, with the Comets winning 25-23. Both games were intense and all team members played tough. Many girls had great diving saves and made nice plays while out on the court. Morgan Morrisey led the team in blocks, Taylor Peterson led the team in kills, and Miya Gotto led the team in assists, as well as service points with 15. Morgan Goodlet added 8 service points in the Comet win. The 8th grade team improves to 10-0 on the season.
